Food for the Homeless
On my way home today I saw a man walking through the train with a red shirt that said “volunteer” in the front and “FFTH” (food for the homeless) on the back. He was carrying a large duffel bag with sandwiches, caprisuns, and I think apples. He was offering food to anyone that was hungry, free of charge. He was also accepting any donations to keep the program going.
Like always I was a bit skeptical about the validity of this program. But this didn’t make sense if it was a scam. And even if it was in some weird way it wouldn’t matter. I was just surprised, because I never saw that before.
I used to always wonder why homeless people didn’t just go to one of the hundreds of soup kitchens all over the city, but it never occurred to me that people could just walk around and offer them food…
That guy must get a lot of different reactions from people, not every homeless person is looking for food or handouts.
