Summer
The absolute best part of summer is doing everything you have put off for the ENTIRE semester.
My top 5 goals are:
- Organizing: Buying a file cabinet and filing EVERYTHING. Buying tons of shelves to place all over my room, and sorting through 7 boxes of books.
- My Room: Buffing/re-doing my floor (possibly placing a carpet). Painting my room (light peach/white). Putting up posters/plaques/awards/trophies/medals/certificates. Buying some sort of trunk for all the cool things I’ve saved.
- Creativity/Cultural: Buying and reading about 10 books. They will be a mix of educational, classics, and young adult books. Forcing myself to learn how to knit and make myself a scarf. Finish a cross stitch design of two roses that I started years ago and give to it granny (she needs to know her lessons weren’t a waste). Learn how to make drinks. I’ve seen a few books on it and I want to learn everything a bartender knows. It seems interesting and fun.
- Health: I have various health issues and it’s mainly because of my horrible diet. I want to gradually change my eating habits. Drinking only 100% natural juices and water (atleast 5 days a week). Eating veggies and fruits. On top of that I would like to exercise. I just want to be toned and be able to run up the stairs without losing my breath. I think I can make a huge improvement by the time fall comes around. Maybe not a complete turn around, but definitely a noticeable change.
- Survival: Learn how to make a full meal. I can make rice, now I need beans and some sort of meat. I can bake a cake, but I would like to learn how to make flan and my granny’s famous Arepa! I also want to be able to barbeque meat on my own. And most importantly at least right now, is to get my license. I’ve been taking lessons from my dad here and there but now that I have time I can do it more often. Least important of all is to do laundry, I’ve done it before but things didn’t go so well. I must try again and do it all (meaning separating the clothes).
* I have a few more things I want to do this summer but if I can do this then I’ll be extremely satisfied. It will be a lot of work but 3 months is a long time and if I get through 2 years of NYU then I can surely do this. Cheers to being independent.
