A kid on the train who vaguely resembles my friends nephew sat next to me today. He was holding a Subway’s bag with a footlong and a bag of chips in it. He was talking to his dad who was quite handsome and they were having an intense conversation. Mind you the child is like 5, 6 at most.

Then he had what seemed like an epiphany.

Little Boy (heavy “Brooklyn” accent): “Dad, subways the sandwich is like subway the train. Like what we’re in right now. It’s like the same thing but one’s a train and the other a sandwich. But with the same name.”

Dad: “Yea it is, pretty cool right.” The dad looked at him and smiled and you could see the love in his eyes. Great scene.

I had a HUGE smile on my face, although I toned it down so I wouldn’t seem creepy. His cute little voice and his excitement was just unbearable.

These are the moments that I enjoy taking the train. When I see parents being thoughtful and listening to their kids, and kids being innocent like they should be.
