I can’t remember a saying my grandmother told me word for word but its along the lines of:
If your father is on fire but your getting attacked by bees who do you help? Yourself or your father? I said my dad because I was 13 and didn’t want to sound selfish. She said that I can’t help my dad unless I help myself and went on to explain why.
Why do I say this?
Well I was thinking about how people say that if you love someone you will do everything in your power to be with them. Well if the basic things you need to survive aren’t in your power then this statement isn’t saying much. People have their own battles to win before they can help the “us” they are apart of. Pressuring them to react immediately isn’t very considerate…
